It is a chance to make your website easier to use, clarify your services and remove friction for customers. Planning first helps protect the parts of your current site that already work.<\/p>\n<h2>Before design begins<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>List your most important services, products and customer questions.<\/li>\n<li>Identify pages that receive enquiries, links or search traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Check analytics and Search Console, if available, to see which pages people use.<\/li>\n<li>Collect your logo, brand colours, photographs, testimonials and current copy.<\/li>\n<li>Write down any forms, booking tools, payment steps or integrations that must keep working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>During the redesign<\/h2>\n<p>Make the main navigation understandable. Give each service a clear page and a direct next step. Check the layout on small screens, use readable text, add descriptive image alternatives and keep forms short enough for the information you actually need.<\/p>\n<p>Do not remove useful pages just because they are old. If a URL must change, plan a relevant redirect from the old address to the closest replacement. Update internal links and test important external integrations.<\/p>\n<h2>Before launch<\/h2>\n<p>Keep a backup of the existing website. Test contact forms, phone links, email links, checkout and other key journeys. Review page titles, descriptions, headings, image sizes, canonical URLs and indexing settings. Confirm that staging or test pages are not accidentally left public in search results.<\/p>\n<p>After launch, check the site on different devices and monitor errors, enquiries and search performance. Keep URLs that are already useful where possible. When a page must move, redirect its old URL to a genuinely related page, not automatically to the homepage. Review internal links, sitemap settings and any campaign links after launch.<\/p>\n<h2>Give the launch a clear owner<\/h2>\n<p>Decide who approves content, who tests the site and who can access the hosting control panel if an issue appears. Keep a copy of the old site until the new version has been checked. Make a list of important actions such as calls, enquiry submissions and purchases, then test each one after launch.
